IMPACT OF SEMICONDUCTOR SHORTAGE ON CANON’S MFP CONSUMABLE PRODUCTS
As a valuable Partner we appreciate your continued sale and use of Canon products. Due to the ongoing global shortage of semiconductor components, Canon is currently experiencing challenges in procuring specific electronic components that are used in our consumable products for our multifunction printers (MFP).
Ensuring business continuity of our Partners is our priority and we want to reassure you that we don’t have a toner shortage. Your printing capability won’t be impacted. In order to continue our toner supply, you will notice that we will start to introduce on the market different type of bottles from mid December 2021.
Indeed to ensure your customers enjoy a continuous and reliable supply of consumables, we have chosen to supply consumable products without the electronic component until normal supply resumes.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
The toner of these hardwares will now be chipless. This means that when you insert a new bottle into the device an error message will be displayed. While the devices ability to print and the print quality will be unaffected, certain functions such as detecting remaining toner level may be affected.
OPTIONS AVAILABLE FOR YOU
Users will need to dismiss the error message for the printer to continue to print normally. Specific instructions on how to deal with the interface will be available on a QR code on the package. You can find those instructions on our dedicated Interim Toner page on our website.
